JoAnn M. Geiger, LPC - Partner/Clinical Director (she, her, & hers)

Licensed Professional Counselor/Certified Brainspotter/Critical Incident Responder

JoAnn is a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Brainspotter, and Critical Incident Responder, with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. Since 2002, JoAnn has been helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion and expertise. She holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Ball State University and has been a licensed professional counselor since 2005.

JoAnn's therapeutic approach is person-centered, meaning she believes that you are the expert on your own life. Her role is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can explore your experiences and work through difficulties. Through active listening, attunement, and authenticity, JoAnn strives to provide a safe environment for individuals from all walks of life.

Specializing in trauma recovery, JoAnn is particularly trained in Brainspotting, a neurocognitive therapy that helps individuals access and process unresolved trauma stored in the brain. This technique involves identifying specific points in a client’s visual field that correlate with areas of the brain where trauma is stored, facilitating healing and integration. JoAnn uses Brainspotting to assist first responders—including law enforcement, paramedics, fire fighters, dispatchers, crisis workers, and mental health professionals—in processing and discharging trauma. She offers both in-person sessions in Tomah and Reedsburg and telehealth services for first responders.

JoAnn is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), offering services such as critical incident defusings, debriefs, and annual wellness checks for agencies. These services are crucial for supporting first responders and frontline workers in managing the emotional aftermath of high-stress incidents.

Additionally, JoAnn is available to present to your agency on First Responder Wellness. She can lead workshops and presentations tailored to the specific needs of your team, focusing on trauma recovery, stress management, and mental health resources for first responders. These presentations are designed to provide valuable insights, practical strategies, and support to help your agency prioritize wellness and resilience in the challenges your team faces.

JoAnn is a Certified Master Facilitator of the Core Gift Discovery Process, helping individuals and teams discover and cultivate their Core Gift—a unique offering derived from life experiences, particularly challenges. Knowing and embracing your Core Gift can enhance your sense of purpose, improve decision-making, and increase overall well-being. JoAnn assists individuals and teams in identifying their Core Gifts to guide personal growth and organizational development.

JoAnn provides outpatient services virtually and at the Reedsburg, Tomah and Waunakee offices and Comprehensive Community Services to Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe and Sauk counties. JoAnn is currently only taking on new clients who are first responders and are interested in Brainspotting.
